TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will hold a meeting at his residence on March 2 to discuss the party’s future strategy, having fixed the deadline of March 5 for the Centre to announce a time-bound action plan for implementation of the A.P. Reorganisation Act and the assurances given in Parliament. Mr. Naidu would chalk out action plan with the party MPs and senior leaders in the meeting, sources say.
With the deadline approaching fast coinciding as it were with the resumption of the Budget session of Parliament, there is curiosity among the people and political circles. The TDP is unlikely to take any decision that would strain the relations with the BJP in near future, many feel. Instead, it would continue its protest in Parliament. It is pertinent to mention here that Mr. Naidu, at a press conference a day ago, said: “We need to mount pressure without hampering the interests of AP.” The rift between BJP-TDP is out in the open. Both the TDP and BJP, however, have been maintaining that they don’t want the alliance to break. “We are demanding that all assurances listed in A.P. Reorganisation Act be fulfilled,” say TDP leaders.
