Two people have been taken to hospital after a house fire in Narrabundah on Wednesday night.
ACT Fire and Rescue crews were called to the Kootara Crescent house, with three pumpers, breathing apparatus support and two commanders proceeding with firefighting.
Ambulance staff treated the female and child for smoke inhalation. They are in a stable condition.
The fire was caused by cooking that was left unattended. Fire damage occurred in the kitchen and two other rooms.
A spokesperson for ACT Fire and Rescue reminded the community of the following safety message: "Don't stop looking while you're cooking."
ACT Housing is now in control of the incident.
