Union Minister of State (IC) of Personnel , Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said ‘ease of doing business’ should lead to ‘ease of living’ of the people and this should be the main objective of the e-governance.
Addressing the concluding session of the 21st National e-governance meet, he said e-governance was also in a way part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘New India’ providing ‘maximum governance, minimum government’. Dr. Singh said Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) portal has emerged as a role model with 16 lakh grievances received this year compared to two lakh three years ago and with 90% disposal on an average because of “better response”’. He called upon States to follow the best practices developed by the DARPG and the Ministry of Personnel.
Doing away with attestation of documents by gazetted officers, no interviews for lower level posts and scrapping of more than 1500 obsolete rules has helped in ease of living of citizens, he said, stating that the Government was keen to universalise digital literacy by 2022 and optimum use of ‘Jan Dhan, Aadhar & Mobile”.
He later presented 19 awards in eight categories for efforts in use of technology. Gold medals carried ₹2 lakh cash prize and citation while silver carried ₹1 lakh award. Secretary DARPG K.V. Eapen, Addl. Secretary Vasudha Mishra and Addl. Chief Secretary of TS Ajay Mishra also spoke.
