100 Yuvaka-Yuvathi Sangha members get sports kit

District in charge Minister B Ramanath Rai distributed sports kits for 100 Yuvaka-Yuvathi Sangha under 'Yuva Chaithanya' programme of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports in Mangaluru on Wednesday.

According to the officers of the department of youth Empowerment and Sports, "A proposal for sports kits for 187 yuvaka and yuvathi sangha in Dakshina Kannada were sent to the government. In the first phase, kits have been sanctioned for 100 sangha members. The remaining 87 will get the kits in the second phase."

The kit will have three volleyballs, one pair volleyball poll, one vollyeball net, three footballs, three bats, six stumps, six hard tennis ball, two throwballs, sports kit bag, six tennis kit rings, two shuttle rackets and one box of shuttlecocks.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ramanath Rai said that the future of India depends on the power of youth. The youth have a responsibility to ensure that no untoward incidents take place.

ZP standing committee on Health and Education president Shahul Hameed said that in the past the department of youth empowerment and sports were getting less grants. With the increase in grant now, more activities could be taken up.

ZP vice president Kasturi Panja, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Deputy Director Pradeep D'Souza and others were present.
