The BSP today demanded that the membership of its former leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council be terminated. In a letter to the UP Legislative Council Chairman Ramesh Yadav, BSP leader in the Upper House Sunil Kumar Chittor informed said Siddiqui had joined another party on Feburary 18 and it amounted to violation of the anti-defection law, the party's national general secretary SC Misra said. Siddiqui had become a BSP MLC on January 23, 2015, and quit the party to join the Congress on February 18.
