Veg only menu for mid-day meals, saying Jai Hind during attendance among suggestions to CABE

The suggestion to make changes in the mid-day meal scheme was given by Uttarakhand Education Minister Arvind Pandey.
Having only vegetarian menu for mid-day meals served in schools, saying Jai Hind during school attendance and remodelling of NCERT curriculum to ensure value and culture based education were among the suggestions received by Central Advisory Body on Education (CABE).

The suggestions were made during the 65th meeting of CABE, the highest decision-making body on education in India, chaired by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, according to minutes of the meeting

"Uttarakhand Education Minister Arvind Pandey stressed upon having vegetraian menus in the mid-day meal," according to the minutes of the meeting.

Kunwar Vijay Shah, Minister of School Education, Madhya Pradesh, suggested that practice of saying yes sir/yes mam during the school attendance should be replaced with Jai Hind, and flag hoisting and national anthem should be made compulsory in all the school.

Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said that "we are proud of our achievements but our past has never deterred us to do more".

"Can we give our contribution to include value based education and strengthen that. NCERT should remodel the syllabus towards culture based education," he was quoted as saying.
