TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy challenges KCR to do same

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said he will quit politics if the party does not come to power in the next General Elections. He predicted that the elections would be held in the month of December.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy dared Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to do the same if the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) fails to win 106 seats as claimed by him.

Other Congress leaders present at the press conference were Danam Nagender, Mallu Ravi, and Vijaya Rama Rao.

Politicisation of farmers

The Congress leaders were here to participate in the Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra on the third day. The Yatra was held at Zaheerabad and Narayanakhed constituencies on Wednesday. A public meeting was held at Sangareddy on Tuesday night.

Terming the Rytu Samanavaya Samithis (RSS) formed by the State government to extend the ₹4,000 assistance to farmers as complete politicisation of farming sector, the TPCC president announced that they would cancel the Samanvaya Samithis after coming to power.

Alleging that the cost of the Pranahita-Chevella project was escalated from ₹38,000 crore to ₹85,000 crore after renaming and redesigning it as Kaleshwaram Project, he said and added that they would review the project as well.

He has also promised to restore Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited in all the places.

“Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao is responsible for the suicides of farmers in the State and the ruling party leaders are so inhuman that they are not even consoling the families of farmers who had committed suicide. Why did the Government fail to extend support price to farmers when they were in crisis, while neighbouring states are able to do so?” asked Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

He has promised to waive off ₹2 lakh farm loans in single stroke.

He, however, did not explain how much budgetary allocation was needed for the promises being made by the Congress party.

Financial assistance

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy has extended a financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to the family of Talari Srisailam, who had committed suicide by hanging on Monday night at Bobbiligama in Sadashivapet mandal and promised to see that all the eligible financial assistance is extended to the family.
