A painter was arrested for raping and murdering a three-year-old girl in Kothanur on Monday.
The girl, one of six children of a couple from UP, was last seen playing with Nishad, living in the labour shanty in Chikka Byrathi. Nishad (28) told police he took the girl to an isolated spot and raped her. Fearing she would inform her parents, he killed her. Nishad was a friend of the girl's father.
