Opp raises bizman’s suicide issue due to alleged DeMon, GST

Opposition Congress members created ruckus in Chhattisgarh Assembly on Monday over the issue of suicide by a Rajnandgaon-based businessman allegedly due to Demonetisation and implementation of GST.

Demanding immediate discussion over the issue, the members created ruckus but Speaker, Gaurishankar Agrawal refused accepting their demand.

The Opposition members while asserting that the suicide of the businessman testifies the dreadful conditions of trade and business in the state due to implementation of GST and Demonetisation. It is not a small issue as the case is related to the debt and payment worth thousands of crores, they said. 

Congress member Satyanarayan Sharma said businessman Mahavir Chauradia in his suicide note had mentioned this and the circumstances prevailing  all over the state including  Bhilai. Home Minister Ramsevak Paikra in a written statement denied that there was any adverse situation for business in the state. He however, accepted that Chauradia had mentioned in his suicide note that the reason behind his suicide was GST and Demonetisation.

He had also named one businessmen of Rajnandgaon for creating pressure to pay debt, the Home Minister said.

Case has been registered under Sections 306 and 34 and police are investigating into the matter, he said.

The Speaker asserting that the House has an urgent work of discussion on Money Bill said it would not be possible to discuss the adjournment motion with immediate effect. The legislators could raise their issue during the discussions; he said and denied accepting the motion.
