Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal, organised a special exhibition titled Kala Bhaibhav at Rock Art Centre in its campus on Monday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Indrajit Grover, North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Allahabad. Harish Kumar, Director, Ministry of Culture, was also present on the occasion. Prof Sarit K Chaudhuri, Director, IGRMS, officers of IGRMS and artists assembled from all over country were also present during the inaugural event.
Union Ministry of Culture also organised Rashtriya Sanakriti Mahotsav in IGRMS campus based on the theme of diversified cultures of different states. The progrmme was inaugurated by Governor of Madhya Pradesh Anandiben Patel. On this occasion, Alok Sanjar, Member of Parliament, Bhopal was also present. In his speech, Sanjar said that he always felt proud to be a part of IGRMS programmes. He further said that he was thankful to the Ministry of Culture for inviting him for inauguration of such an interesting event.
Such kind of programmes will not only help the artists in understanding the cultures of different states but also transfer of cultural traditions from each other, he added.
The performances on Monday were started with Pandwani (Chhattisgarh) and continued with presentations Lai Haroba, Thangta and Dhol Cholam (Manipur), Kalbelia Manganihar and Bhavai, (Rajasthan), Chhau folk dance (Jharkhand), Gudum Baja (Dindori), Badhai folk dance of Bundelkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhapeli (Jharkhand), faag (Hariyana), Lamga (Rajasthan), Bhanra (Punjab), Lavani (Maharashtra).
In addition to this, Padamshri Gundecha Brothers- Sanjiv Jha and Manish Kumar presented Dhrupad vocal music. During the Rashtriya Sanakriti Mahotsav, the entry will be free for visitors on Tuesday.
