Allegations of Jairam refuted

Refuting Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s allegations, BJP State president and Visakhapatnam MP K. Haribabu pointed out that it was the UPA government that had rushed through the improperly-drafted A.P. Reorganisation Bill in Parliament with an eye on 2014 general elections.

Mr. Haribabu stated in a press release that following the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced in Parliament that the clause of special category states ceased to exist. However, the Central government has agreed to give a special assistance for five years.

The BJP’s claim to have sanctioned projects worth more than ₹3 lakh crore was in consonance with that.

Mr. Haribabu said it should also be noted that against each assurance given in the 13th Schedule of APRA, it was mentioned that the feasibility would be examined within six months/one year.

He said Mr. Ramesh had a major share in the sin committed by the then UPA government on the people of A.P. and he should answer why the UPA government could not complete the construction of the capitals in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand when it was in power for 10 long years.

Though the APRA clearly stipulated a period of 10 years for establishment of various institutions, the NDA government has already sanctioned 85% of them and the institutions were already functioning from temporary buildings.

Polavaram project

Mr. Haribabu accused successive Congress governments of completely neglecting the Polavaram project for which foundation was laid way back in 1981 by the then Chief Minister T. Anjaiah.

These facts prove that the Congress, after committing gross injustice against the people of A.P., was trying to hoodwink them by making baseless allegations against the NDA government and the BJP. However, people see through Congress deceptive game plan, Mr. Haribabu said.
