Triumph Motorcycles has launched yet another model based on their famous Bobber platform and is called the Bonneville Speedmaster in India today and it has been priced at INR 11.11 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the British brand’s most affordable ‘cruiser’ in India. With the addition of new model, Triumph now has four different Bonneville versions to offer in the Indian market.
The new Speedmaster is a created keeping in mind the classic retro styling and new age modern tech and gets design inspiration from the brand’s offerings in the 50s and the 60s. It is powered by the same 1200cc parallel-twin engine that churns out 76 bhp of power and 106 Nm of maximum torque which is almost 25% more than the earlier Speedmaster sold in India in 2015. Riding on 150/80 rear and 130/90 front tyres. Braking section is handled by twin disc brakes at front measuring 310 mm each and the rear braking department is handled by single 255mm disc brake unit with Brembo braking system as standard. The front suspension is 41mm cartridge forks with 90mm traveling while the rear suspension setup is hidden under the rear seat with monoshock RSU linkage with 73mm traveling and stepped preload adjuster.
As far as tech is considered, the Speedmaster gets two riding modes, rain and road and features like ABS, switchable traction control, Ride-by-Wire and even a cruise control comes as standard. You also get full 5″ LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a trip computer, and an Immobiliser.
The Speedmaster is Triumph’s first launch this year – the brand had launched as many as five models last year, namely, the Street Triple S, Street Triple RS, Street Scrambler, Tiger Explorer XCx and the Bonneville Bobber. This new bike will be available in two disguises to choose from an optional package to choose from – Highway and Maverick. Highway package kit offers custom add-ons like a windscreen, leather panniers, flatter handlebars, seat add-ons etc, while the Maverick kit offers a darkly themed bike with black Vance & Hines exhaust, black handlebar, leather padded seats etc.
Customers can pick from three different colors, Jet Black, Cranberry Red and Fusion White with Phantom Black accents. Keeping the satisfaction of customers in mind triumph revealed that the Speedmaster will come with a 2 year / unlimited km warranty with a first major service interval of 16,000 km which is also first in the segment. Dealerships have started taking orders for the new Speedmaster and deliveries will begin soon.
