Strolling on the railway track after missing a train for Hyderabad proved fatal for a group of youths from Hapur when six of them were fatally crushed under the wheels of the engine while another was battling for his life on Sunday night. After sending the bodies for autopsy, senior police officers said that the youths were very unfortunate as had they not missed their train for Hyderabad, they would not have died.
As per reports, seven youths from Pilkhua (Hapur) were strolling down the tracks on Moradabad-Delhi train route on Sunday night and as they were passing through Gandhi railway crossing in Pilkhua, a railway engine heading to Delhi suddenly hit them from behind killing six on the spots while Rahul of Sarvodya Nagar (Hapur) was seriously injured.
The deceased were identified as Vijay (18) and Akash (20) of Sarvodya Nagar area, Saleem (20), Samir (15), Ajay (20) and Arif (18) of Sadikpura area.
District Magistrate, Krishna Karunesh said that the victims were engaged in painters and were to go to Hyderabad for a contract on Sunday night. However, they missed the train and were returning home when the mishap occurred. A case was registered and investigations are on.
Meanwhile in another tragedy reported from Jais locality of Rae Bareli, a driver of a sand-loaded truck lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a house killing a woman and her grandson and critically injuring other children on Sunday night. As per reports, the loaded truck was going from Rae Bareli to Sultanpur late on Sunday night and as it was passing by Gandhinagar crossing in Jais, a dumper suddenly emerged on the road after which the truck driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the house of Savitri. The vehicle crushed the family which was in deep sleep. Hearing the scream of the members, some neighbours rushed out of their houses and found Savitri (55) and her disabled grandson Sajan (16) dead while other members were buried under the debris. They immediately rescued them and found Savitri’s daughters Manju (20), Asha (32) and son Sanjay (33) critically injured, whom they rushed to a hospital. A case waas registered against the truck driver who abandoned the vehicle and escaped soon after the mishap.
