Four held in B’pur rape, murder case
The Sadar police on Sunday arrested four persons who had strangulated one Pratima Behera of Bendalia village in Ganjam district to death after raping her and looted valuable ornaments from her possession on February 19.
The arrestees were identified as Sanatan Sahu (30), Manoj Kumar Sahu (40), Nilamchal Das (28) and Rama Das (24). The police said Pratima had gone to take her bath in a village pond while the accused persons forcibly captured here and raped her.
While the accused failed tussling with her, they pressed her neck, resulting in her death. “Four accused have been arrested; and one is still on the run and would be nabbed soon,” said a police officer.
