Pokémon Go Update: Shiny Party Hat Pikachu Available

Another Pokémon Go update is live, and players of the popular mobile game now have a new hat-clad Pikachu to catch. The Party Hat Pikachu, in celebration of Pokémon Day 2018, comes in a nifty striped purple party hat that is different from previous hatted Pikachu in the game. Pokémon Go players can actually catch a shiny version of this special Pikachu.

There’s a lot Pokémon Go fans  need to know about the latest event, which runs for the next few days. Here’s all the essential details.

START TIME AND SHINY PIKACHU

The Pokémon Day 2018 event in Pokémon Go started Feb. 26 and ends Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. EST. During this time, trainers can catch as many Party Hat Pikachu as possible.Like similar events in the past, trainers have a chance to encounter a Shiny Party Hat Pikachu in the wild. The odds of catching this Shiny Pikachu are low, and you won’t know if you found one until you actually engage it. Players will also receive triple the usual amount of stardust for catching these Party Hat Pikachu.

NEW TRAINER CUSTOMIZATION

Another new addition to Pokémon Go are trainer customization options that pay homage to the Gen 1 remakes, Fire Red and Leaf Green. Check out how they look in the official Pokémon Go tweet below.

 

The new clothing options in Pokémon Go will cost some coins, so be sure to go to your local Gym and stock up before obtaining all pieces of the Fire Red/Leaf Green outfits. The sneakers cost 150 gold coins, bottoms cost 200 gold coins, the top costs 250 gold coins and the hat will run trainers 100 gold coins.
