MAPUSA: A Ukrainian national was found dead beneath the culvert along the Tuem – Parsem road on Tuesday morning.
Police have identified the deceased as
Oleksandi Shypitsyn, 37.
According to sources, the body, which was in the slightly decomposed state, was located by some of the locals who informed the police. The body has been sent to
Goa Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Police said said the deceased had arrived in Goa on January 24 and was staying at
Arambol since January 25. On February 24, he sustained injuries in an accident at Arambol and was shifted to primary health center at Tuem at about 8pm.
After the treatment, the Ukrainian national was discharged from the health center at about 9.30pm the same night.
His body was found some 600 meters from the health center in the culvert having the depth of around 3 -3.5 meters with rocks at its base. Police said that there were injury marks on the head of the deceased.
Pernem PI Sandesh Chodankar said that no foul play is suspected in the case as all the belongings of the deceased including the cellphone and cash was intact.
The police suspect that the foreign national must have fallen in the culvert after losing balance and succumbed to his injuries.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are further investigating the case.
