Schoolboy dies as bus hits two-wheeler in TN

TIRUPUR: A nine-year-old schoolboy died when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus hit a two-wheeler he was riding pillion on near Palladam in Tirupur district on Tuesday.

Police identified the deceased as Prasanth, son of Ravi and Geetha of Mahalakshmi Nagar in Palladam. He was a Class IV student in a private school on the Palladam-Mangalam road.


The accident happened when Prasanth’s uncle T Mahalingam was taking him to school on a two-wheeler. When they reached near Karaiyampudur, a TNSTC bus plying between Tirupur and Coimbatore hit the two-wheeler from behind. The bus ran over Prasanth who fell on the road.


“The accident happened when the bus driver, Rajendran, tried to overtake another vehicle,” said the police official.


The Palladam police registered a case.
