
Bollywood’s first female superstar Sridevi, who mesmerised the Indian audience with films like Chandni, Lamhe, Chaalbaaz, Mr.India and Sadma among others, passed away on February 24 in Dubai. Her untimely death came as a shocker for her fans, friends and colleagues.
A day after her death, Dubai Police on Monday said Sridevi died of accidental drowning in her hotel bathtub after losing consciousness. Later the case was transferred to the Dubai Public Prosecution. On Tuesday, Vipul, the Consul General of India, confirmed that Dubai Police has closed Sridevi’s case after a thorough investigation. The mortal remains of the actor were brought back to India late on Tuesday night on a chartered flight.
The condolence meeting for Sridevi will be held on February 28 at Celebration Sports Club from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, it will be followed by the funeral and last rites at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery from 3.30 pm.

A huge crowd is spotted waiting outside the Celebrations Sports Club to see Sridevi one last time. Her final journey will commence at 2 pm from Celebration Sports Club to Pawan Hans.
Padma Shri Sridevi will be cremated with state honours. Arrangements have been made by the state government for the elaborate event. The late actor will be honoured with a gun salute and the body will be draped in the national flag. Mumbai Police band has reached Celebration Sports Club.
The darshan will end at 12.30 pm. It will be followed by a puja. Post the puja, Sridevi's final journey will commence at 2 pm from Celebration Sports Club to Pawan Hans.
Sridevi's mortal remains have been kept in a glass case with a picture of the actress in front of it and garlands all over. While Sanjay Kapoor is greeting the crowd with folded hands, Anand Ahuja and Sonam Kapoor are standing by the body. Boney Kapoor and both the daughters look visibly shattered. Sridevi's mortal remains have reached Lokhandwala's Celebration Sports Club. Fans, friends and colleagues will be able to pay their last respects to the actor here. The Kapoors including Arjun Kapoor, Marwah family and Karan Johar have also reached the venue where the condolence meeting will start at 9.30 am.
A separate passage has been made for fans at Celebration Sports Club to have the last glimpse of Sridevi.
After visiting the grieving Kapoor family, Bappi Lahiri said he worked in 11 Silver Jubilee films with the deceased actor, who was "the one and only lady superstar"
"I still can't believe she is no more with us, my heart sinks thinking about it."
He told IANS that he would like to dedicate the song "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" to her memory. "Never say goodbye! She will always remain an integral part of our industry. She will always remain our superstar."
"We have provided additional security at the residence in order to avoid law and order situation," Mumbai police spokesperson, Deepak Devraj told PTI.
Around 100 policemen were deployed near Sridevi's Lokhandwala building on Tuesday night and around 250 cops will be deployed today at the house where her body will be kept for paying final tribute to the departed soul, said a police official.
"The same number of policemen will be part of the funeral procession," he said.
