Mixing classic styling with contemporary tech, Triumph Motorcycle India has added a new variant to its Bonneville range with the all-new Speedmaster. The new Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Bobber platform, but has been designed for more laid back style and touring capability. The design is distinctly retro and inspired from the original Speedmaster of the early 2000a and the old-school Bonneville America. Compared to the Bobber, the new Bonnie derivative gets a different riding geometry while the rake angle is smaller too for more relaxed riding. In addition, the bike gets the pillion seat as well, which makes a lot more practical to live with over the Bobber.
Power comes from the same 1200 cc parallel-twin engine seen on the T120 as well as the Bobber, tuned for 76 bhp and 106 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm forks up front but gets an open cartridge system, while the rear gets a monoshock unit with a dual rate spring for a more comfortable ride quality. Braking performance comes courtesy of 310 mm discs at either end with Nissin calipers. The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster uses the same fat tyres as the Bobber with 130/90 section up front and a 150/80 section tyre at the rear.
Much like the other Triumph Bonnevilles on sale, the Speedmaster will come with a host of rider assist features including two riding modes, ABS and traction control. There's Cruise Control too offered as standard. With a dry weight of 245.5 kg, the Speedmaster is on the heavier side but not out of place with its rivals.
Speaking of which, Triumph's newest offering will be taking on the cruiser range from Harley-Davidson along with the Indian Scout. Prices will be announced in sometime at the launch event and we are bringing you all the updates live from the launch.

Unlike the Triumph Bonneville Bobber, which is a strict single-seater offering, the Speedmaster gets a pillion seat that makes it more user friendly without compromising on the appeal.

The riding position is relaxed with the beach style handlebars, repositioned palm grips and forward set foot pegs. The rake angle is smaller too on the Speedmaster with the steering geometry slightly different.

The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the Bonneville Bobber platform, so the engine, chassis, cycle parts and design are similar. But unlike the Bobber, the Speedmaster has been designed to be a lot more practical with a laid back riding style.

The Speedmaster moniker isn't exactly new to the Triumph family. The original Triumph Speedmaster dates back to 2002 and took inspiration from the retro Bonneville America.
