The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders — Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh and national spokesperson Ashutosh — met Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Monday and submitted video “evidence” of an alleged assault on two AAP MLAs at Delhi Secretariat few days before.
“We have sought time from the Delhi Police Commissioner three days back so that we may apprise him about the fact that the Delhi Police is taking no action on the complaint of attack on two of its MLA’s at Delhi Secretariat,” said Ashutosh.
He said the AAP told the Police Commissioner that despite of fact that video evidence of the incident is present and faces of those who are involved in the attack have been identified, police are allegedly passive.
While Sanjay Singh said police are making extra efforts on the complaint by the Delhi Chief Secretary while no evidence is there to support it. On the other hand, police are taking no action against those involved in attacking AAP MLAs at Delhi Secretariat though they have all the evidence.
He also slammed the police action on two of the accused MLAs and police entering the CM's residence for investigation. After handing over the videos to the police, Singh said that they have been assured of police action against the perpetrators.
Ashish Khetan and Imran Hussein were allegedly heckled and their party volunteers were thrashed by a mob inside the Delhi Secretariat on February 20 after Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash alleged that he was assaulted by party MLAs at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence the night before.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police told a court that CCTV cameras at the Chief Minister's house were tampered with. In response to which, Singh said, “CCTV cameras come under the supervision of police. The Delhi Police personnel should be questioned if they were tampered with.”
