After Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash’s allegation of assault by MLAs at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house last week ignited a controversy, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is considering live-streaming official meetings attended by Ministers and officers, .
According to sources in the government, a proposal to start live-streaming meetings, with audio, could feature in Finance Minister Manish Sisodia’s Budget speech for 2018-2019. This, after officers have been protesting for almost a week against the attack, which the AAP government has denied. An official said that apart from live-streaming, the government was considering sharing all file notings and details of file movements publicly.
Transparency
Though the Administrative Reforms Department would be asked to implement such a decision, the official said no department had been asked for a proposal yet. The official said the two proposals were aimed at improving transparency so the public could know exactly what transpires in official meetings and what deliberations take place through files.
Earlier on Monday, Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a tweet: “All Meetings of Ministers and MLAs with Babus should be broadcasted live like Loksabha proceedings. Transparency at its best !! [sic]”.
