Udaipur: Though corporal punishment is strictly prohibited in schools, still such incidents get reported. In Rajsamand, an FIR has been lodged against a teacher for allegedly kicking and thrashing a 12-year-old girl student of government senior secondary school in Devgarh block on Monday. According to sources, Reena Mali, a Class VI student, was told to get out of the class by teacher Kamla Shankar Paneri (53) when he saw her talking while he was explaining a chapter. Later, Paneri went out and reportedly thrashed the girl with a ‘neem stick’. The girl sustained bruises on her feet. The matter was reported to the police which arranged for a medical examination of the girl. “I quizzed some teachers and also spoke to some of the students to find out what exactly happened,” said Mangilal, investigating officer, Devgarh police station. tnn
