The district administration is looking at private companies to take up public works worth Rs 50 crore under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the financial year 2018-19.
In a press conference, at the Deputy Commissioner's office, here, on Monday, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep said that Mysuru is a model district in the state to utilise CSR funds from private companies. While the companies had earmarked Rs 44.18 crore during 2016-17, Rs 24.84 crore was earmarked for 2017-18.
"This time, we have a target to take up works worth Rs 50 crore and five companies have come forward to spend Rs 12.31 crore under CSR for various development works. The companies can take up development activities such as the construction of public toilets and others. As per the norms, each company should spend 2% of their net profit in three years," he said.
Earlier, in a meeting with the company representatives, the DC had suggested them to submit an action plan under CSR for 2018-19.
