
On the morning of February 25, the world woke up to the heartbreaking news of the demise of Bollywood acting legend – Sridevi. Sridevi passed away around 11 PM on February 24. She was in UAE with the entire Kapoor family to attend the wedding ceremony of Mohit Marwah. The news of Sridevi’s death came as a huge shock to the entire film fraternity as well as her fans. According to the forensic report, actor Sridevi died due to accidental drowning. Earlier it was reported that she died of cardiac arrest.
Sridevi’s mortal remains will be brought back to Mumbai only after the postmortem and final paperwork are completed in Dubai. A private jet flew to Dubai from Mumbai to carry the late actor’s body. Her body is likely to reach Mumbai in a few hours following which the last rites will be held.

Sridevi's longtime co-star Kamal Haasan arrives at Anil Kapoor's residence to pay his respects.
It was for this young couple's wedding that Sridevi had gone to Dubai.
"I have talked to Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Al Nahyan. He assured me that all formalities and reports are complete. Her mortal remains should reach India by midnight," Amar Singh said outside Anil Kapoor's residence.
Indian Envoy to UAE Navdeep Suri told ANI, "Our embassy and consulate are working closely with local authorities to expedite the return of mortal remains of Sridevi and also keeping Kapoor family apprised, it is our endeavor to send mortal remains at earliest."
Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara also dropped by Anil Kapoor's residence to pay her respects. Sara shares a close bond with Sridevi's elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor.
The official handle of Dubai Police has posted on Twitter: "Following the completion of post-mortem analysis, #DubaiPolice today stated that the death of Indian actress #Sridevi occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness." They also added, "Dubai Police has transferred the case to Dubai Public Prosecution, which will carry out regular legal procedures followed in such cases."
According to the forensic report released by the Director of Preventive Medicine, Dubai, Sridevi died due to accidental drowning. It was earlier reported that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest in the bathroom. Indian officials are doing the paperwork involved in the repatriation of the body from Dubai. Once the papers are ready, the body will be embalmed which takes around an hour. The Indian Consulate will formally hand over the body to Boney Kapoor or someone authorised by him.
Subhash Shinde, who did Sridevi's make-up at actor Mohit Marwah's marriage in Dubai last week, says that the late actress had "so much warmth and positivity" and always treated everyone, including make-up artistes, present on a film's set like family. "I still cannot believe she is no more. I was there in Dubai with her for her make-up at Mohit Marwah's (her nephew) marriage. She was looking so pretty, happy and bright as ever. I came back two days ago, and on Saturday late night, the news started coming in (about her death). I am still in shock," Shinde told IANS.
According to Gulf News, Dubai Police have given out the forensic report on Sridevi's death to her family and the Indian Consulate representative. The sealed envelope has now been sent to the Bur Dubai police station.

Sridevi's last rites will be performed at the Pawan Hans crematorium after a prayer meeting at the Boat Club in Mumbai, as per ANI.
Veteran actor Madhuri Dixit also dropped by Anil Kapoor's residence to pay her last respects. Contemporaries Madhuri and Sridevi used to rule the silver screen back in the 80s, while fans remained divided in their loyalties.
As per reports, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan is set to fly down to Mumbai today evening to attend Sridevi's funeral. South Indian legend Rajinikanth had also landed at the Mumbai airport yesterday. Both Haasan and Rajini have shared screen space with the late icon.
South Indian actor Venkatesh Daggubati along with Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Honey Irani and Ritesh Sidhwani visit Kapoor residence.
Farhan Akhtar, Tabu, Honey Irani, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farah Khan and Anil Kapoor's mother also visited Anil Kapoor's house in Vile Parle.
Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan, who had worked with Sridevi in many iconic dance numbers, arrives at the residence of Anil Kapoor to offer her condolences to the family.
As reported by PTI, Sridevi's mortal remains will be ready for repatriation by 2:30 PM. Sridevi’s body could not be repatriated yesterday as the final investigation reports from Dubai Police were not ready by Sunday evening. Indian Consulate officials reveal that after receiving the Police Clearance and forensic report, the other procedures including, immigration and embalming would be completed in the next 3 to 4 hours, a source told Khaleej Times.

As reported by IANS, Sridevi was getting ready for a dinner date with her producer-husband Boney Kapoor before she suffered a cardiac arrest. Apparently, Boney flew back from Mumbai and went to her room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel at around 5:30 PM to 'surprise' her, a source close to the family told the Khaleej Times. He woke her up and the couple chatted for about 15 minutes before he invited her for dinner. When Sridevi did not come out of the washroom for long, Boney knocked on the door to check on her. When he got no response, he forced open the door to find the legendary actor lying motionless in the bathtub full of water, the source said.
While Sridevi's last rites will be performed after her mortal remains arrive in Mumbai, Bollywood celebrities have begun to drop by Anil Kapoor's residence to offer their condolences to the family.

Sridevi's body is expected to be flown to Mumbai on a chartered aircraft Monday morning, and arrangements for her final rites were being finalised late on Sunday night.
Crowds had gathered outside Sridevi's home in Lokhandwala on Sunday for a glimpse of the deceased superstar. Awaiting the arrival of the funeral cortège, the dozens of fans finally lost patience.
Sridevi's mortal remains are expected to be brought back to India today. The funeral and last rites will be performed accordingly.
A statement issued on Sunday evening by Sridevi’s family said: “Boney Kapoor, Janhvi, Khushi and the entire Kapoor, Ayyappan and Marwah family is deeply bereaved and shocked by the untimely loss of Sridevi Kapoor.”
