The Champawat Additional District Magistrate Hemant Kumar Verma reportedly resigned from his post citing pressure from the representatives of a Non-Governmental organisation involved in organising the Uttarakhand sustainable development festival which began in the district on Friday and concluded on Sunday.
Sources said that ADM Verma had submitted a letter tendering his resignation from his post to the District Magistrate citing pressure from a representative of Non Governmental organisation. The ADM alleged that the NGO official had treated him in a questionable manner during the workshop. Despite feeling unwell, he had effectively executed works related to the workshop as directed by the DM to ensure a successful event. Stating that he was bossed around by the NGO official, causing him unnecessary stress, the official tenderedhis resignation from the post stirring up the officials into action. Some of the officials reached his residence to inquire about the episode. When this correspondent phoned the DM Ahmed Iqbal to inquire about the situation on Sunday evening, the phone went unanswered.
