Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMR), having completed successful land acquisition for the project across the three rail routes where the project is being built, is now concentrating on using lands given by the government for taking up construction of multi-level parking complexes.
On Monday, HMR officials successfully “resumed” 1200 sq yards of prime property of HMDA at Ameerpet Metro, which has been under “occupation” of a private car mart for several years. Despite repeated efforts the agency refused to move out of the land, which is worth ₹15 crore, using various methods including litigation, said MD N.V.S. Reddy.
The eviction was done with the help of local police by senior Metro rail officials. The shed and other walls would soon be removed so that the work on the parking complex can be started.
It is the second successful resumption of a prime property after the 2800 sq yards of another prime property adjacent to Nampally Sarai between Metro station and railway station.
The land belonged to the GHMC and was transferred to HMR and is considered to be worth ₹28 crore. A private taxi association was using the area for many years and was preventing the land take over. Mr. Reddy said it will be developed into a bus and vehicle bay, as well as a parking hub with all modern amenities.
