Ravichandran Ashwin is the new captain of Kings XI

During the IPL auction, Ashwin was bought by Kings XI Punjab for ₹ 7.60 crores.

Former Chennai Super Kings player Ravichandran Ashwin was bought by the Kings XI Punjab franchise for the 2018 IPL season at the recent auction.

According to Kings XI Punjab official twitter account and website, it was announced that R. Ashwin would lead the side for the 2018 season.

After the announcement was made, Ashwin said “I feel honoured to be trusted with the responsibility of leading such a talented bunch of cricketers.

“I am confident of bringing out the best out of team mates. This is indeed a proud moment for me.

“There is no additional pressure on me as such. I first led my state side in first class cricket when I was 21. I have done it in the past and I am sure that I will enjoy the challenge.”

During the IPL auction, Ashwin was bought by Kings XI Punjab for ₹ 7.60 crores. The team also comprise of some hard-hitters like Aaron Finch, David Miller, Chris Gayle, KL Rahul and Yuvraj Singh.
