The San Jose Sharks acquired left wing Evander Kane from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a pair of conditional draft picks and a prospect less than an hour before Monday's 3 p.m. ET NHL trade deadline, per multiple reports.

Kane fetched a return of a 2019 conditional first-round draft pick, a 2020 conditional fourth-rounder and prospect Daniel O'Regan.

TSN reports the condition of the first round pick is that, if Kane does re-sign with the Sharks, the picks remains a first -- but it will convert to a 2019 second-rounder if he stays.

The 26-year-old Kane is in his ninth NHL season, totaling 20 points and 20 assists for 40 points through 61 games with the last-place Sabres. He has 177 goals and 163 assists for 340 points in 557 career games with Buffalo and the Winnipeg Jets/Atlanta Thrashers.

The No. 4 overall pick of the Thrashers in 2009 is in the last year of his six-year deal with an annual cap hit of $5.25 million. After the franchise relocated to Winnipeg, the Jets traded Kane to the Sabres on Feb. 11, 2015.

Kane's best season to date came in 2011-12 when he registered career highs of 30 goals, 27 assists and 57 points in 74 games during the Jets' first season back in Winnipeg.

O'Regan, a 24-year-old forward, has four assists in 19 games with San Jose this season. The fifth-round pick of the Sharks in 2012 had one goal in three NHL games last season.

In 31 contests with the AHL's Barracudas this season, O'Regan had seven goals and 18 assists (25 points).

San Jose (33-21-9, 75 points) is fifth in the Western Conference, trailing West-leading Vegas by 11 points.
