
Andhra Pradesh will make all efforts to measure up to the expectations of investors from other parts of the country and abroad who have signed agreements with the State Government, according to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
He was speaking at the valedictory session of the annual three-day partnership summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Monday.
He said 734 MoUs had been signed during the three days entailing an investment of nearly Rs 4,40,000 crore, generating more than 11 lakh jobs directly or indirectly.
He said: "You have reposed faith in us and we will not let you down. All clearances will be given within 21 days and, if there is any issue, I am only a phone call away from you."
Major projects
Referring to some of the major projects, the CM said the Reliance Group had come forward to invest more than Rs 50,000 crore in the State.
"Reliance is setting up a mobile phone unit at Tirupati with one million capacity and an electronics cluster at Amaravati and the group is also investing heavily in the oil sector. Google has signed a MoU to provide connectivity to villages in the State. The Adani Group is constructing a greenfield port and setting up SEZ at Bhavanapadu in Srikakulam district," he said.
Vizag convention centre
"The LuLu Group has signed a MoU to build a world-class convention centre and shopping mall right here in Harbour Park area. For the past three years, we have been holding CII summits in makeshift venues. The convention centre will be ready for the next CII summit," he said.
Amaravati
The Chief Minister said agencies from Singapore and Japan had come forward to assist in the construction of the new state capital, Amaravati, and "Singapore in particular has helped a lot."
He thanked Singapore Minister Eswaran who participated in the valedictory session.
He also thanked the Union Minister for Industry and Commerce Suresh Prabhu for staying here for three days and participating in the summit. He sought co-operation from the Centre in AP's endeavour to become a modern, industrialised state.
Union Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu said Andhra Pradesh should now strive to convert all the MoUs into projects and promised all help from the Centre. He said the Prime Minister wanted India to become a $5-trillion economy in the next five to seven years and Andhra Pradesh should play a key role in achieving the goal.
State Governor E.S.L Narasimhan, who was the chief guest at the valedictory session, said he had no doubts that the State would achieve the targets it had set for itself.
