A man allegedly killed his brother’s wife in Khadikashol village under the Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday. The incident that took place in a Santhal family sent shockwaves in the area.

The accused named Thabal Baske (38) had a heated exchange of words with his elder brother’s wife Sita Baske (35) over not-so-important a matter. But, this angered Thabal too much and an irate Thabal attacked Sita with an axe and left her in a pool of blood.

As she was left uncared for throughout the night, she had a profuse bleeding. Consequently, when she was brought late to the Baripada PRM Medical College and Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the police detained Thabal; and the axe used in the crime was seized.
