Led by Leader of Opposition Tejaswi Yadav Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders marched to Raj Bhavan on Monday to meet Governor Satyapal Malik and demanded action against BJP leader Manoj Baitha whose SUV mowed down nine school students in Muzaffarpur while crossing road on Saturday.

“Till now no arrest has been made in the incident…it seems the government is protecting the ruling BJP leader whose vehicle had crushed nine school children in Muzaffarpur,” alleged Tejaswi Yadav while leading the march from Bihar assembly building.

Other party leaders too charged the government for protecting the accused BJP leader in the incident. “But, we’ll not sit idle and kick off protest on road until his arrest,” said RJD MLA Bhai Birendra.

However, Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said that “whoever and wherever the accused person would be, he would be arrested and sent to jail…crushing school students is a heinous crime and the government will not protect anyone.”

“The incident has happened and it would not be fair to link it with any political party…the BJP has nothing to do with the accused person...let the police do its work as the Chief Minister has ordered probe into it,” said BJP leader and Minister Vinod Narayan Jha.

Director General of Police P.K. Thakur told journalists that, “accused persons will be arrested soon as the police has seized a mobile phone as evidence from the ill-fated vehicle.”

The Muzaffarpur police has lodged an FIR against the BJP leader Manoj Baitha for the death of nine school children at Dharmapur village under Minapur police station.
