JAMMU: Alert Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration bid along the International Border (IB) in Samba district on Monday, while Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along Line of Control (
LoC) in Rajouri district.
"The BSF troops on Monday morning noticed some suspicious movement along the IB in Ramgarh sector of Samba," said a defence source.
The attempted intrusion comes just three days after BSF and Pak Rangers held a flag meeting in Suchetgarh and discussed border management issues on February 23.
In Rajouri, Pakistani Army again resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the LoC. Defence sources said Pakistani forces started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting some Indian positions and civilian areas in
Nowshera sector of Rajouri district around 9.30 am on Monday.
Army troops retaliated the firing effectively while intermittent exchange of fire was going on. No report of any causality or injury from the Indian side so far has been reported. On Sunday evening Pakistan also resorted to shelling in the same sector.
In a separate development,
Indian Army claimed that more than 300 armed terrorists are waiting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) and enter India.
