Fire guts NTCL Kapda Mill

Goods and assets worth crores of rupees were  gutted in the massive fire that broke out in a Kapda Mill (cloth mill) situated at Chandbad locality of the old city. The mill is affiliated to National Textile Corporation Limited (NTCL) mill. The estimated loss in the fire is around Rs  100 crore

The intensity of the fire could be gauged by the fact that it took around 10 hours and 40 fire tenders to douse the fire  which broke out at around 2.30 in night.

The mill which suffered massive damage is a Central Government’s  National Textile Corporation (NTC) mil situated at Chandbad area under Bajaria police station area.

Initially after receiving the information, two fire tenders were rushed to the spot but after it was found that the fire had  spread and turned massive, more fire tenders and fire tender vehicles were pressed into service.  Along with the fire tenders of the city, fire tenders vehicles from Mandideep, Vidisha and Sehore reached for the operation. Fire tenders from Army were also roped in for pacifying the fire.

In the incident no was injured and no casualty was reported during the pacifying of the fire. Gross negligence emerged in the incident as appropriate and adequate arrangement to handle emergency situation like fire were missing.

At the time of the fire staff was working and was evacuated safely from the premises.  One of the two units in the mill was damaged in the fire. The reason of the fire remained unknown and would be investigated.

A number of local people, most of them workers and family members of mill workers, gathered outside the factory premises and were in tears as their only livelihood got finished. Local legislator Vishwas Sarang also reached the site and consoled the families.
