The forensic report released by the Dubai Police says that Sridevi died due to accidental drowning.

The report added that traces of alcohol was found in Sridevi's body. "Under the influence of alcohol, Sridevi lost her balance and fell into the bathtub and drowned," Gulf News quoted an official as saying.

Bollywood actress Sridevi passed away in her hotel room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai, at 11 pm on Saturday, reported ANI.

An autopsy was conducted earlier today and the police had handed over the report to the family and the Indian consulate.

The forensic report, however, did not confirm she suffered cardiac arrest as media reported earlier. "The investigation is still going on to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the forensic report only says that she drowned," Gulf News quoted an official as saying.

Earlier, reports also suggested that toxicology tests were done on the body of Sridevi, which eventually lead to delay in sending back her mortal remains to India from Dubai, where the 54-year-old actress died on Saturday.

According to reports, industrialist Anil Ambani has offered to fly Sridevi's body back in a private jet.

The Indian film fraternity has been shaken by the unexpected tragedy. Hundreds have gathered outside Sridevi's Mumbai home, hoping for a final glimpse.

Sridevi, Boney Kapoor, and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor were in Ras Al Khaimah early last week to celebrate the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah.

According to a report in Khaleej Times, Bony Kapoor and his younger daughter had returned back to Mumbai after attending the wedding. However, Sridevi chose to stay back. The report also added that Boney Kapoor again flew back to Dubai to surprise Sridevi. He had then invited Sridevi for a dinner date. The couple at their hotel room chatted for a few minutes before Sridevi went inside the washroom to get ready. 

"After 15 minutes into the washroom, when Boney Kapoor noticed that Sridevi was still inside, he knocked on the door. When he got no response, he forced open the door to find the legendary actor lying motionless in the bathtub full of water," said a source.

"He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9pm," the source added.

The police and paramedics rushed to the site, but she was pronounced dead. Her body was taken to the General Department of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.
