Man stabs woman after her family broke off marriage

| | New Delhi

Irked after the family of a 21-year-old woman broke off the marriage, a 26-year-old man allegedly broke into the woman’s house, locked her and stabbed her in Outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area on Saturday night.

Police said that the incident was reported at around 10 pm from the Sultanpuri area.

A senior police officer said, “The man, identified as Lucky has been arrested. During enquiry, it was found that a year and a half ago, the families of the girl and Lucky had fixed their marriage.”

“However, after the family of the 21-year-old girl found that Lucky was not of a good nature, they called off the marriage last month.”

On Saturday night, while the family of the girl was at the ground floor of their residence, the girl was at the first floor.

Police said that Lucky had been stalking the girl since past one month. On finding the girl alone, he grabbed her, forcefully took her inside the kitchen and held a knife at her throat. Lucky also tried to inappropriately touch the girl.

The girl shrieked in horror. On hearing the loud cries of the girl, her family came upstairs and found the girl crying while Lucky was shouting at her for breaking off their marriage.

The family somehow managed to break open the door of the kitchen and nabbed Lucky and thrashed him.

One of the members made a call to the Police Control Room after which Lukcy was arrested. Police said that the family of the girl alleged that Lucky used to threaten the girl. “He used to claim that he will throw acid at her or will kill her if they did not marry,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, the girl is undergoing at a nearby hospital. She is stated to be out of danger.
