The has responded to North Korea's willingness to hold talks with the US, saying that any discussions with must lead to the regime ending its nuclear programme.

The "is committed to achieving the complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," the said in a statement on Sunday.
