Sports events mark ‘XLerate’ at XLRI

The last day of the three-day XLerate, an inter-B school and college fest, witnessed a series of sporting competition and workshops for participating students. On the last day  XLerate organised by students of PGDM-GM students organised sporting events like badminton, table tennis, cricket, volleyball and futsal for participating B schools like SP Jain School of Management and National Institute of Securities Markets from Mumbai; IIM Ranchi and Indore and others.

The last day also witnessed business sessions. XLRI along with Headstart Jharkhand organisation organised a start-up workshop for students of XLRI and its Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC).

The XLRI-ASCP chapter was inaugurated by Amitava Bakshi, chief procurement officer Tata Steel. The chapter also held its first campus event.. Jagjit Singh, chief of customer services & logistics division, Anshuman Neil Basu, executive director, SCM Programs and Prof. TAS Vijayaraghavan, coordinator centre for logistics & SCM, XLRI were the guests for the event.

Amitava Bakshi enlightened the audience about the future of supply chain and how digitization is changing the traditional supply chain. Basu had the opinion of digital disruption is a must and ASCP will pioneer in bringing in those transformations in supply chain domain across industry. Jagjit Singh shared how GST has been successfully implemented across supply chain function of Tata Steel and how the organization has got benefit out of it. At the end Vijayaraghavan shared the agenda to take the chapter forward. There were audiences from all the programs and from industries.

Students organized designer corner where 30 odd participants from various colleges showcased their creativity by designing dresses using reusable materials.Students from IIFT Ranchi, OIIFT Jamshedpur and XLRI designed dresses on themes like- seasons, elements of earth etc. and walked the ramp.

 In the evening XLRI’s own Band “The Bodhi Tree” performed for the audience. This was followed by a leadership session by Ace director- Imtiaz Ali. Imtiaz Ali interacted with the students and answered their questions. The day ended with a performance by “Kankana Live” from Kolkata. A pitching competition was also organised for XLRI students who wanted to showcase the right way of pitching their business ideas at a business forum.
