Five-time world champion MC Mary Kom clinched silver medal in women’s category of 69th Strandza Memorial Boxing Tournament held on Sunday.

After winning the gold medal in the Asian Championship and India Open, Mary Kom (48kg) was looking to get first place but she lost to Bulgaria’s Sevda Asenova. On the other hand, Seema Poonia secured silver medal in more than 81kg category against Russia’s Anna Ivanova.
This result for Mary Kom was shocking as she was dominating the opponent player throughout her game. She was trying to attack the opponent player during the competition but when the judges announced the decision in favor of Sevda, Mary Kom got shocked. At the same time, there was a strong fight against Anna who was very fast in her straight punch.
Russia’s boxer had so much dominancy that she was warned several times in the last round, but the result did not make any difference.
