Tea garden workers to cease work on February 27

| Updated: Feb 25, 2018, 10:58 IST
Dibrugarh: Plantation workers of all the 685 registered tea gardens in the Brahmaputra valley will go on a day-long strike on February 27 in protest against the delay in the wage revision process, the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) on Saturday said.

Addressing a press conference, ACMS president and former Union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar said the labour union has been forced to take the step since the state government has failed to fix the minimum daily wage of labourers. The last wage agreement expired on December 31 and the new agreement was supposed to take effect from January 1.
