In view of the Assembly elections scheduled in November, this year, the Congress seems in attacking mode. Congress legislator from Rau Jitu Patwari here on Saturday declared that he would launch a bicycle rally with the department of peasants’ rights.
National Congress Secretary and MLA Patwari told media persons that the State government is continuously being bluffing with the farmers. He demanded that the government to provide adequate price to their produce and remove discrepancies in the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. “Congress has raised these issues several times before the government, but the government is not ready to pay any heed,” he added.
He stated that this time he would again approach the government with the demands of farmers, but this time on bicycle. “On February 25, I would reach Bhopal from Indore by covering 200 kms of bicycle journey. At Bhopal, I would demonstrate and put forth demands before the government,” he said.
Patwari claimed that Bhavantar Yojana is completely cheating with the farmers. Factually, this benefits the traders. The farmers that are in debts are committing suicides and if the government wants to check the situation, loan waiver is the only option left, he said.
He demanded that the farmers should be provided with electricity at cheaper rates. The MSP for food-grains must be at Rs 3,000 per quintal and oil-seeds at Rs 7,000 per quintal. He informed that his yatra would reach Bhopal via Dewas, Sonkachh, Ashta and Sehore and directly reach Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.
