Sridevi's mortal remains likely to arrive in Mumbai tonight

All efforts are being made for the mortal remains of legendary actress Sridevi to be flown to Mumbai by a chartered flight tonight after completion of formalities in Dubai. She passed away in Dubai late last night following a cardiac arrest. As per the procedure, the local police will carry out an investigation before handing over the death certificate.

Sridevi was in UAE to attend a wedding. The actress had reportedly fainted in the bathroom of a Dubai hotel, following a heart attack. Later she was rushed to a local hospital in Dubai. Sources said, the actress was brought dead to the hospital. Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi were with her when she died.

Indian Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri along with his wife visited Boney Kapoor and assured of all help and support at this hour of grief. Speaking to AIR, Mr Suri said, they are in touch with the local authorities and the family to provide all possible assistance.

As the news regarding the sudden death of Sridevi spread, several Indian fans and social workers living in Dubai gathered in the vicinity of Dubai Forensic Centre to pay their respects to the late actress.

Sridevi was considered one of the very few Indian female superstars capable of huge box office success without the support of a male hero. She starred in more than 150 films, including such Bollywood classics as Mr India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz, Sadma,Lamhe and more recently, the much acclaimed English Vinglish and MOM. In 2013, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour.
