Three people were killed in a snow avalanche incident in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. Police said, the three deceased had ventured out for some work when they were buried in the avalanche at Gochibal Behak Lalpora area.
AIR correspondent reports that the MeT department has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches and rain in the plains today. Authorities have issued a medium and low danger avalanche warning after high-altitude areas of the state received fresh snowfall.
The warning covers north, south, central Kashmir, Jammu region areas, Srinagar Jammu national highway and also Kargil and Leh districts. The State Disaster Management Authority has advised people in these areas to take precautionary measures.
The divisional administration have put in place all contingency measures at district level. Meanwhile, the Srinagar Jammu national highway is closed for vehicular traffic for 2nd consecutive day today.
