CM to inaugurate IT Conclave today

Meanwhile, to showcase the achievements in the last one and a half years, The Jharkhand IT Conclave — 2018 is being organised at Dhurwa in Ranchi on Sunday during which several schemes related to IT will also be kicked off.

“The Summit will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das at Nehru Stadium and Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma will be the Guest of Honour. Glimpses of the achievements made by the State in the last 1-2 years will be showcased during the Summit which will prove to be a milestone,” said IT Secretary Satendra Singh.

More than 7,000 people were expected to take part in the Summit, he added. 

“People coming from the field of IT, ITS and Start-up companies are likely to take place during the Summit,” said the Secretary. It will also be a positive step towards making the State a IT hub, he added. 

Referring to the achievements made by the State during the last 1-2 years, Singh said that it has made a commendable progress in the field and reached on second position in the Country in the field of Digital Literacy. The ongoing process of connecting the Panchayats through Optical Fiber high speed internet connectivity by will be completed by March 2019,” said the IT Secretary. It will enable to providing high speed internet connectivity to every door step in the first phase, he added.

“IT so far had been confined only to the urban population, but it is for the first time that efforts are being made to provide internet connectivity to the doorsteps to strengthen the connectivity even in the rural areas by providing mobile towers and Wi-Fi service,” said Singh.

According to the IT Secretary, various works are being done in the State in three different phases — Phase I, I-Plus and II under which all Panchayats will be connected through Optical Fiber in Phase I by March 2019, while Wi-Fi will be made available to them under the second phase by taking advantage of works done under phase I.  

“There are a lot of possibilities of Rural BPO in the State through which the rural women could also be connected through employment and more than 5,000 women have been provided employment,” said Singh. People right from the age of 14 to 60 years were being made digital literates in the State under PMG Disha Programme, he added. As many as 30 BPO’s have already been opened in the State due to which migration has remarkably decreased in the rural areas, he added.
