CHENNAI: A 17-year-old student of New College was arrested for allegedly attacking his counterparts studying in Presidency College in a moving bus on Friday.Police personnel recovered a knife from him and have launched a search for two more persons who escaped.Police said the boy was a first year student of sociology. “On Friday, two students from Presidency College were heading towards Chennai Central railway station to board a train for Arakkonam.

They boarded an MTC bus route number 18K plying from West Saidapet to Parry’s and were travelling on the footboard, when the students of the New College, travelling on route number 21 bus plying between Mandaveli and Parry’s spotted them,” police said.“The New College students forced the boys to board their bus when it stopped at Shanti bus stop. They allegedly snatched headphone and cash and attacked the boys inside the bus. As they reached Central, the victims informed their friends, who reached Central and were waiting to attack the students of the other college,” the police said.

Learning about the incident, police rushed to the spot and nabbed the New College student, while  the others escaped. Police suspect the attack could have been to establish supremacy over bus route.
The Flower Bazaar Police arrested the student and sent him to the correctional facility for boys and girls at Kellys, after producing him before the Juvenile Justice Board.
