Eight persons have been arrested for allegedly assaulting policemen at Ulhasnagar in the Thane district. A case of attempt to murder was registered against the accused today morning, a police officer said. Beni Prasad Yadav (34) approached police with a complaint that some persons beat him up yesterday evening. When a police team went to the spot to conduct an inquiry late in the night, the accused attacked them with iron rods, the officer said. Assistant sub-inspector B A Darade and constable V S Dole were seriously injured in the attack, and Darade was admitted to the Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar, the officer added. Police today arrested eight persons in connection with the incident.
All of them hail from Jharkhand, the police officer added.
