Cloudy sky in Dehradun, snow in the hills

| | Dehradun | in Dehradun

The sky turned overcast during the forenoon after a sunny morning in Dehradun on Saturday. Though things remained windy it did not rain much. However, the mercury dipped considerably following the change of the climate. However, it snowed in the high altitude places across the state like Kedar valley, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The Met officials said that the same climate would continue on Sunday too as the western disturbances which reached the western Himalayan region would remain active for a few more days.

The denizens of Dehradun welcomed the sudden change in the climate as things were getting hot for the past few days, mercury soaring. The maximum temperature came down considerably, though the minimum rose a tad.

“Though it did not rain as expected we have got relief from the climate getting hot. We hope that the climate would remain cool for a few more days thanks to the western disturbance,” said a resident of Dalanwala in the city.

While the maximum settled at 24.4ºC and the minimum at 13.3ºC in Dehradun it was 18.7ºC and 7.3ºC in Mukteshwar and 28.0ºC (normal) and 11.5ºC (normal) in Pantnagar on Saturday. In Tehri district, maximum temperature was reported as 17 degree Celsius while the minimum was 10.8 degree Celsius on the day.
