Woman dies after falling from moving train

A 65-year-old woman died on Saturday evening after she fell off a moving train as she tried alighting at the KR Puram railway station.

Eshwaramma, a resident of Vijayawada, was visiting the city to attend the birthday celebrations of a relative in Marathahalli. She was travelling with her husband and daughter.

According to the police, at 4.30 pm, the train was passing through the station at a slow pace since it did not have a scheduled stop. Eshwaramma's husband and daughter managed to get down. However, the train picked up speed just as the woman tried alighting. Eshwaramma fell from the coach onto the tracks below.

The KR Puram police have registered a case of unnatural death.
