Under the guidance of Jharkhand Legal Service Authority, the District Legal Service Authority is all set to organise one-its-kind legal services empowerment camp on Sunday at Gopal Maidan. Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court DN Patel will inaugurate the camp. The objective of the camp is to provide free legal services to labourers of unorganised sector.
The system was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge K Murali Shankar on Saturday. About 35 kiosks will be set up by various departments of the Government to help the participants understand their legal rights.
Briefing on the facilities and functions of the cam, district judge Manoj Prasad an industrial worker of organised and unorganised sector or retired persons were eligible to avail themselves of the service. More than 20,000 people are expected to participate in the camp. About 1.5 lakh labourers have got them registered for getting legal aid to any legal service by filling up the application form.
“Their work is of temporary nature, the relationship between employer and the employee is temporary, working hours are uncertain. Basic amenities and welfare facilities are nonexistent or inadequate where provided. Risk to life and limb is also inherent. We call upon workers in unorganized sector to come forward and avail the scheme,” said an official of DLSA.
