Pune: While the bridegroom’s mother was busy posing for photographs with the newly-wed couple, someone picked-up her purse, containing Rs1.77 lakh
cash, and fled the
marriage hall located on Dhanori Road in Vishrantwadi. The 49-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with the
Vishrantwadi police.
The theft occurred on Saturday afternoon. Assistant inspector Ravikiran Darwade said, “Around 1.30pm the family was busy taking photographs with the couple on stage. When she was asked to pose with the couple, the woman kept her purse on a chair on the stage and participated in the session.” The woman has stated that she was carrying the cash in her purse so she could use it when required during the function.
Later, she noticed that her purse was missing from the chair. Despite a thorough search when the purse was not found, the woman lodged a police complaint. The police are currently checking the footage from CCTVs installed inside the marriage hall.
Bag with gold ornaments worth Rs 2.45L stolen
Two women, who posed as friends of a bride, made off with a suitcase containing gold ornaments worth Rs2.45 lakh from a marriage hall in Jejuri on February 21. Isha Phadke, a resident of Pune, has lodged a complaint in this regard.
