25-year-old dies, one hurt in car accident

A 25-year-old man was killed while his father sustained critical injuries when car thieves ran over them in Southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area in the early hours of Saturday. According to police, the deceased is Vishal while his father, Mohan is injured and undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Center.

 Confirming the incident, Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) said, “We received a PCR call at around 4:20 am about an accident from the AIIMS Trauma Center.”

The senior police officer said, “When a team from the Jaitpur Police Station reached the hospital, they found that one Vishal was declared brought dead while his father, Mohan is undergoing treatment,” During investigation, it was found that two car thieves came in a four wheeler and were attempting to steal the vehicles parked in the area.

“Following this, Vishal’s sister Shivani and brother Rohit saw the thieves and informed about the incidents to Vishal and their father. As per the statement of the locals, when those two car thieves saw Vishal and his father, they tried to flee. Meanwhile, both father and son tried to stop the vehicle by taking out the key. In the process the thieves rashly drove the car by dragging them. Due to that they got injuries and were shifted to AIIMS Truma on their own,” said Biswal.

 Police said that they have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC. “We are scanning through the CCTV cameras installed in the nearby area and are also questioning the locals,” added Biswal.
